Differences unite us

Bõln, one of the Spanish brands selected to participate in the ICEX initiative at the Embassy of Spain in Tokyo.

From 30 November to 2 December, we participated in Differences unite us, an interior exhibition at the Embassy of Spain in Tokyo. That was an initiative by ICEX Spain Trade and Investment, Interiors from Spain and Interiors from Spain and Japan to showcase a diverse range of Spanish products, including furniture, lighting, fabrics and building materials.

Different unite us represented a fantastic opportunity to introduce our latest products in Japan. We also attended several seminars by renowned architects and designers from both countries. They shared their vision of the event’s main topic, their experience in these two different cultures and working together.

One of them was the event curator, architect and interior designer Alberto García from DE-SIGN Inc. Some others were architects Natalia Sanz and Ken Yamamura from YSLA Architects; designer Hitoshi Kuramoto from Jin Kuramoto Studio Inc.; architect and designer Yuichi-ro Yamanaka from S.O.Y. Architectural Environment Laboratory Ltd.; and David Minton Alberto and Gorka Beitia-Zarandona, from Kengo Kuma & Associates.

We have been part of a journey through the past, present and future of what is behind Spanish design. Japan and Spain may appear seemingly opposite. However, we have witnessed that these countries are not as different as we may think. Both societies reflect their culture and lifestyle in their design, and those differences bring us together.
